About CityPlace: Toronto's Largest Residential Community
CityPlace, officially known as Concord CityPlace, is the largest residential development in Toronto's history. Bounded by Bathurst Street to the west, Lake Shore Boulevard to the south, Front Street to the north, and Blue Jays Way and the Rogers Centre to the east, this 44-acre neighbourhood rose from the former railway lands beginning in the early 2000s. Concord Adex Developments transformed what was once an industrial rail corridor into a dense, vertical community of glass-and-concrete condominium towers that now house tens of thousands of residents.
What makes CityPlace distinct is its demographics. The neighbourhood skews young — the median age is among the lowest in Toronto — and the population is overwhelmingly composed of young professionals, recent immigrants, and first-time condo buyers. Many residents work in the nearby Financial District, a 10-to-20-minute walk north, or in the tech and creative industries clustered along King West and the Entertainment District. The towers of Element, Apex, Matrix, Festival Tower, and Harbour View Estates house a community that values convenience, walkability, and access to services close to home.
CityPlace is bordered by the Fort York neighbourhood to the west — where Krystal Dental Hygiene is located — the Entertainment District to the east, Harbourfront to the south along Queens Quay, and the Fashion District to the north. Canoe Landing Park, a 3.24-hectare green space designed with public art by Douglas Coupland including the famous red canoe sculpture, serves as the community's backyard. The Puente de Luz ("Bridge of Light"), a 100-metre pedestrian bridge painted bright yellow, connects CityPlace across the rail corridor to Front Street and the downtown core. Jean Lumb Public School (TDSB) and Bishop MacDonell Catholic School (TCDSB) serve local families.
